Blessings & Obedience

03 Mar, Blessings & Obedience, admin. Filed under Bible Studies. . ,

When we obey God it is truly amazing the blessings that are laid upon us. As written in Deuteronomy 28 verse 1 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all his commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.” The Lord truly blesses those who obeys him.

Many people give half-efforts when praising God. They only worship on Sundays or Saturdays depending on your beliefs. Monday - Friday, it seems that the Lord is non-existant, then he magically re-appears on Sunday. This lifestyle does not please the Lord at all and will only result in lack of blessings and doorways for the Devil to enter. Remember if you are not serving God every day, then who are you serving? Always keep that in mind.

“The lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face, they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.” Deuteronomy 28 verse 7. This very powerful verse shows you what you can overcome when obedient to the Lord. This blessing is really needed by many of us, as we are always faced with trials, tribulations or enemies rising against us in some form. With God at our side we can overcome all things and claim victory.

What happens if you are NOT obedient to God? Deuteronomy 28 verse 15 gives us the answer “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all his commandments and his statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you”. The passage continued to list all the various curses that will overtake you when not obedient to the Lord. It is very critical that we obey, have faith and perserve in our fight to live our lives in the light of Christ. If you read the entire Chapter of Deuteronomy 28 from verse 15, you will see the plenty of curses that are cast down upon the disobedient. For instance if you are a farmer, or if you rely on planting foods in your backyard to get your vegetables, do you really want your land to be cursed? As in verse 39 “You shall plant vineyards and tend them, but you shall neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worms shall eat them”. With God your produce flourishes, when you disobey those things are taken away as you are no longer blessed and in the light of the Lord.

We all must take careful note of our blessings as they can be easily taken away through disobedience. Stay focused on the Lord and you shall be rewarded with blessings that only the Lord can give.
